Our Role In The Community

At the heart of French & Jupps’ ethos is supporting the people that surround us. This is just as important to us now as it was at the beginning of the company’s history.

We continue to play an active role and have a keen interest in supporting the community and local projects.

The Maltings Business Centre provides affordable office space to hundreds of businesses, many of whom are villagers themselves, and plays an economic role in the support of businesses throughout the village and local area.

This page highlights some of the ways French & Jupps works with the community.

The Station Art PROJECT

The signal boxes at the station will be repainted in 2021 featuring the artwork of local artists. French & Jupps are proud to sponsor this initiative and are also on the selection committee. We are most excited to see the entries!

"Be Prepared"

An aspect of the community close to our hearts is our local youth. We’ve supported the local Scout group for many years and are currently working with them to refurbish their Scout hut and provide a new kitchen facility for them. The boardroom will also be home for their monthly meetings which we are providing free of charge.

If you hire our boardroom you will notice some beers in the fridge from the local Hadham Brewery that contains our very own malt.  Hirers and guests of the Boardroom can take a bottle at the end of their session, all we ask is that you pop a donation in the box with all proceeds going to the local Scout group.

St Andrew's Church

The East window at St. Andrews was created in partnership with the church and is based on a sketch by David Hopkins. Those of you with a keen eye will notice an illustration of the Maltings building at the bottom-center of the stained glass.

The MaltMaker Statue

The year 2000 saw the erection of the Maltmaker statue in Ware. French & Jupps, along with others, paid for its creation and installation and it was commissioned to mark the significance of Ware as a malting town.

DEFIBRILATOR

French & Jupps contributed, along with the Co-op, to install a defibrillator in the telephone box on the High Street.

“Every minute saved getting access to a defibrillator can help increase the chance of survival by up to 10%” – BHF

DEFIBRILLATOR

We have recently installed a  defibrillator in the post room here at the Maltings. With cardiac arrest being a leading cause of medical emergencies, having this device on-site can provide timely assistance to anyone experiencing a heart attack. Once you have dialled 999 and the operator has assessed the situation if they feel appropriate they will issue you with a code to open the defibrillator cabinet where you will find the defibrillator and all usage instructions.

Where is it?  The Defibrillator can be found in the post room at the Maltings Business Centre on Roydon Road (SG12 8HG) From the main site entrance, enter the Twitchell passage between the two buildings. Enter the first door on the left under the AED sign.

St Andrew’s Church of England (VC) Primary School

French & Jupps have worked with the school opposite the Maltings to help facilitate the purchase of a computer suite, an outdoor classroom, revamped dining space and more.

The education of our youngsters is close to our hearts and French & Jupps were more than happy to help.

VILLAGE CLUB

During lockdown 2020, French & Jupps organised and funded the construction of a refreshed terrace area for the village club members to enjoy.

Ware Angling Club

At the rear of the Maltings is a beautiful piece of land consisting of wooded areas and lakes, including the ‘Pretty Lake’, which is home to and maintained by the Ware Angling Club. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Ware Angling Club please contact them directly here.
